The Wicklow Way Hiking Trail 5 Days

Our 5-Day program starts in Ballyteig, Iron Bridge and ends in Enniskerry. It includes; Glenmalure, Glendalough, Lough Tay and Knockree

The Wicklow Way is central to Ireland’s Ancient East and is one of Ireland’s top destinations for hillwalking and outdoor enthusiasts. Probably because Wicklow’s landscape is unique; rolling mountains, steep-sided glacial valleys, fast-flowing mountain streams, heather-clad hills, hidden upland lakes and sandy beaches, etc..

Ireland’s largest national park is in Wicklow, and it contains the biggest mountain area, highest waterfall and is the source of Dublin’s own River Liffey. When you are not hiking the Wicklow way to visit some of Ireland’s most beautiful gardens like Mount Usher and Powerscourt, or visit Glendalough’s 6th-century monastic site and follow in the footsteps of St. Kevin.

Note: Our walking holiday’s on the Wicklow Way run from south to north to allow a gradual start before the walks become more challenging. Should you prefer, however, we are happy to organise it from north to south.

The Wicklow Way Trail map

Although a lot of guides indicated the Wicklow way running from north to south at Walking Holiday Ireland our tours run from south to north. We do this because the southern Wicklow mountains are lower and therefore the walks only get a little harder as we near Dublin. Please note that decent waterproof hiking boots are a must as part of the track can be muddy and wet. The terrain and trail are well maintained by volunteers but some areas can be a little bit tricky depending on weather conditions.
